Default A question about pipe-flaring tools

ok, finally got the enthusiasm to sort my track-day pug out so I bought a pipe-flaring tool today to sort the brake pipes.

It was only £30. Yeah, yeah I know you get what you pay for so I was expecting it to be of slightly inferior quality, but I dont plan on using it much so wasnt too fussed.

Anyway, Out the box and one of the dies snapped first time I used it so its back to the shop tomorrow.

My question is... Is there any point in just getting it replaced? Here is a pic of what it does (left) and what I need (right) as you can see, the flare is in the opposite direction to what I need.

I have the correct pipe-ends.

Am I being particularly dumb and not using it right or is that all it will do?

according to the instructions, it will do two kinds of flare, but as you can see from the bottom of the instructions, they are both the same trumpet-shape, which isnt the style I need.

Are they just some stupid non-standard flare on my pug or is this kit just no use, or am I just not using it right?

What you want is the 'single flare' the other type is the 'double flare' so itore is local, get it replaced, cos some cars have doubles, and some have a mix of the two, so you never know when you may need it, better to have it and not need it just yet, cos when you do you'll cus like mad!!!
