Default Can you get NTL tv through the broadband cable?

A guy at work reckons if you split the NTL broadband cable into two you can use one of them to feed the tv,even if you dont subscribe to ntl cable tv.

Seems a bit far fetched to me,surely the least you need is a ntl digibox.

On Telewest, if you split the cable feed then you can watch analogue terrestrial channels i.e. BBC1, BBC2, ITV, CH4 and CH5. You need a STB to decode digital or any subscription-based channels.

Maybe he's only talking about analogue ones?

As above, you will be able to receive the analogue terrestrial channels (and FM radio if you get hold of the correct splitter)

I also experimented by sticking a freeview receiver on the end, but got nowt.

NTL have a network sniffer which they employ randonly to search for the reception of rogue viewers. The sniffer cross-checks the central database for services and flags up an indicator to let them know if anything is suspicious. They employ this to catch people with 'chipped' boxes and are currently clamping down on any other source of abuse.
