Why? Because people are so insulated from the real world that they'll complain about a cartoon which was clearly written weeks ago just because it has a picture of a head on a plate (a well-used image/metaophore), claiming they are outraged because it trivialises the Nick Berg incident which is completely unrelated.
It's like the people who complained about the 'Two Towers' book in the LOTR series being insulting to the memory of 9/11, despite it being written several decades earlier.

Fair enough. I thought you were objecting to the cartoon being published in the first place, although the timing could have been better at least we live in a society where this kind of thing can happen without over the top retribution from the state.
