Afternoon, several of us are going to Chester this weekend for a mates stag do. Can anyone recomend the best pubs/ clubs to visit, and if possible any ones to avoid!

Don't go to Chester, it's crap, get down the road to Wrexham. Much better town centre, loads of pubs, good clubs.

If you must go to Chester, a bunch of lads are sure to get a fine welcome in "The Snooty Fox"

Brannigans

Did like the last one we went in but was too pished to remember the name.

 

I take it thats one to avoid then Wrexham's not posh enough mate, in true SN fashion we will be arriving in private helicopters, then driving to our chateau, in 9 Macca F1's..............

There's one in an pld Canaside building that has a live music venue as well. Nice sitting out by the water. Then inside for the live stuff when it opens (about 10pm). Can't remember what it was called though.

 

I used to live in chester. It can be a tw*t of a place to go drinking with all the bus fulls of scalls from across the water. Wetherspoons is ok for starting off but you really are limited in choice. There is Telfords warehouse , which is good if u can get in (**** bouncers). Its out the way but pretty cool, as well as the George & Dragon (very nice pub, bit expensive) There are other various little pubs that you can use to break up the manotiny of walking, like the boot inn, student haunt but pretty good.

There is also a yates, with another pub opposite, both get very busy, quite pricey but if your desperate. There is also a firkin down by the canal, thats good and cheap and you can actually hear people speak as well as the ability to play the Jenga game with huge blocks (looks like floor joists to me )

As for nightclubs, well, theres Rosees (sp) or RBs as its now known. Personally I hate the place but hey ! Alternatively there is a late bar called Loaf ( I think ) thats open till the wee hours.

Yep - not a bad place. Used to go there a lot when I was <cough> younger. The boat is nice too.

The centre is crap tho', you'd be better finding another venue mate.

 

If you know where Brannigans is, then go to the opposite end of the town 10 mins walk towards the racecourse.

There are pubs/late bars on both sides of the road leading towards the racecourse, and in both tiers of the buildings.

They tend not to be full of 'snarlers'.

One of the bars at the start of our run used to be a medieval prison, with the cells still viewable. The next one is a bar with the largest selection of bottled beers Ive ever seen, then the one after that is very modern loads of stainless steel, and chequer plate and they specialize in cocktails and guest beers. Im **** with pub names, I just go in and drink, if I see any of the lads today I will find out what the area is called.

Maybe someone else know where Im on about.......

The loaf has just been metioned, this is one of the late bars we use. It is modern and mellow, there are two floors and its always full of biatches.

Thats the name of the area, I think, now what are the pub/bars called ?

Nice one that was about to 'do my head in'...

Got to say i love the vodka bar in chester, "Revolution" I think it's called

Depends if it's yer cuppa tea or not tho i guess

can second loaf is good crack, tho remember it's a little pricey?

 

Now THAT would be a stag do!

 

Town center wise I'd recommend "The Falcon Inn" as mentioned earlier and the one on the lower city walls the name of which I cannot remember

 

A little off subject, but if you need to take a break for a bite to eat I reccomend The Globe on the canal front.

Book first though as it is very popular.

r&bs (when I can get in, they have a policy of not letting doormen in)
branigans. yes its cheesy and a very mixed crowd but if u want a good old laf...

dislike :

loaf, bit too noncy for me
wetherspoons, good atmosphere but no music!! come on!

most other places are ok.

agree that wrexham is better, believe me chester on a fri/sat night is not posh!

i go to liverpool now, mainly society and garlands, unbelievably fit women and no trouble, ace music.

OK, OK, Wrexham is better, isnt my choice to go to Chester anyway, think the lads reckon we are going drinking with the lasses from Hollyoaks!
