Default Was the Winner mad? Wrecks to Riches

Anyone watched Wrecks to Riches....??

Picture the scene. Winner has won a Car. Brewer selects three cars to the value of £8K each. The winner selects which one he wants.

Winner Profile: Married with three kids.

Car 1/ 51' plate, 31K miles, 2 litre accord

Car 2/ Brand New MG Rover (the one based on the 25) in Yellow

Car 3/ T plate Merc, 2 litre, auto, 47K miles.

He already owns an older merc so I think it's a no brainer. He's going for the Merc. I would either go for the Honda or Merc. Why not the Yellow MG? Well, come on. It's just a Rover 25 isn't it!!

Nope! He picks the MG!! WTF!!!!!

How disappointing was the finish of the series. Dream Car? I think not! I knew he'd lost the plot when he started messing about with dodgy Chinese scooters...

Yeah I saw that and initially thought it was a bit of an odd choice, personally in his situation would of thought the Honda would of been the best bet - most room and newer than the Merc. (Am a bit of a Honda fan, think of Mercs of old persons cars) !
But and this is probably the reason he chose the MG, given a choice of three reasonable cars, and one is brand new with three years warrenty etc, I can see a lot of people going for the brand spanker !
Felt sorry for the bloke three kids and an awful wife who clearly didnt want to be on the show.

some people are attracted to the fact the car is brand new regardless of the car... this is why Protons are sold

I thought with the old Merc up the dodgy path, he would have gone for the newer Merc.

And I agree with the above post, he chose it to sell it, for some more chippy meals, by the looks of it.

I think they should vet potential winners to see if they are worthy.

Did you see the face on the winners Wife when he said ' Well lets go in, and put the kettle on.' He had just given them an 8 grand car, and she pulls a face at giving him a cup of tea.

And talk about unexcitable.......

Ps. Were the kids deaf, or did they not speak English, like getting blood out of a stone.

Maybe he likes the thrill of depreciation, the Merc would be at the shallowest point of its depreciation curve wheras the Rover is sat at the top of a depreciation curve a bit like those waiting on Oblivion at Alton Towers ?

well it was the most impractical, sorry but the honda is the choice for OAPs everywhere , my other half had one for a while (yes she is younger than 65!), lost 7K and quite frankly struggled to sell it, they are way too plain and boring. The merc was abit long in the tooth, and the MG well not bad but a dodgy colour! None of them what you would call a 'dream' car. And Mr Brewer seems to ignore the fact his 'profit' excludes all the petrol he spent running around, the advertising costs and most importantly his time!

Not to mention of course that half of the "deals" were complete set ups that very few people would ever be able to get.

Surely he was going to give the car to his wife and with 3 sprogs then proabbly running cost would come into it and with a 3 year warranty she can now ship her 3 kids around for very little money....

That was my thinking anyway .......
