I once bought some Cheddar cheese and kept it in the fridge for 4 years. A mate gave me a block of it 5" x 9" from his dairy farm. I had to keep scraping off the greenish blue coloured mold but it tasted as fresh as a daisy underneath and had a bite to rival a rottweiler I discovered the phrase "matures with age" with that cheese

NO,no,no,there's definitely not a huge state of the art nuclear bunker under the back of the garage by the wall, absolutley not ,so don't bother coming round if it all 'kicks off' 'cos my bunker is not there, and it's not packed with food, water and carbon dioxide scrubbers either....

Honey.
Honest. They recovered some from the Pyramids that they considered was probably still OK to eat. It doesn't go off etc. though I think under some conditions it can rot or something.
Anyhow, honey is the stuff for your nuclear shelter.

What ever is in my Mums fridge.
I always check the USE BY date, its all to do with her age, I think.
She has a caravan we use every now and again, to get away from the rat race. She will say, ' Help yourself to whats in the cupboards ', FFS theres stuff there in tins which are nearly rusted through, and the labels have faded to the extent that you cant read whats in them.
I opened a dodgy tin of beans, and the top half of the tin the beans were almost white, and the bottom half of the tin the beans were orange.
They cost 2d whatever that means......

What about pickles? as they're stuffed in vinegar they should last some time, or, wait, ive got it!! Biltong!!
If you dont know what biltong is, its sold in Africa in normal shops, and is dried meat similar to what they used on the old sailing ships, lasts ages, although I suppose being meat maybe pickles would have the edge.
Edit: Brit in Japan got there first, never mind, ill go with Biltong then...
