Any Jockos out here?

Does anybody know what the events are in the Highland Games?
Are they really as ridiculous as they appear and what's the actual reasoning behind them?

Usual ones include :

Tossing the caber
Tug 'o war
Throwing the hammer

...and many more I cannot think of for now.
It's more or less track & field Scottish style.

Dwarf throwing is always a crowd puller at the Highland games.

You can't beat a good old 1970's piano smashing contest IMHO
