Default Advice needed on laser jammers.

I am considering buying a LRC100 laser jammer.
Just wondered what you lot think of the pro's and con's of using one.
I realise that they are not legal in the uk, but in practice, what are the chances of being pulled over and checked if a mobile speed trap cannot get a fix on your speed on the first attempt. If you were pulled over, i dont think mr plod would look upon it too lightly.
Let me say that i have been driving for 20 years and have zero points on my licence. I do not go blasting around city streets, but on occasion, i like to open the scooby up a bit on a quiet country road.
But it seems there is an ever increasing number of mobile speed traps popping up. I already have a speed camera detector, but that wont help against laser traps.
I know there was a recent group buy on these, and wondered what you thought of the product, and what if any defence you could offer up in case you were pulled and discovered

I have seen them being sold on the net for £280.

So.......

Acording to speedtrap bible, no one has been prosecuted for these yet!!

There is a stretch of road in derbyshire that i travel up and down on the way to the peaks every now and again. Its a single carraigway A road, and was always a 60 limit.
About a year ago, the limit was dropped to 50 in places (still rural). Last time i travelled back down that road there was a well hidden camera van doing traffic travelling in the other direction
Just made me think, it could have been me doing 55
This road is favoured by bikers, and that is the only reason i can see for the change in the speed limit.

There is not a specific offence for using them, however, somebody in Wales was prosecuted after passing through a number of speedtraps and the police were never able to get a reading on him. IIRC he was done for "preventing an officer from carrying out his duties" or something similar

I was talking to Steve Warren ( http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk ) and he said that as far as he knew the bloke on Wales just got a caution in the end , as did another user in Essex . Maybe the powers that be don't want it tested in court , if they lost the world and his dog will be buying them

Thanks for the link rotty.

Having read the newspaper reports on there, i have even more doubts
Its the error on the police laser gun that worries me. If it is only thrown up when it is blocked by a diffuser, then it is almost like putting a big sign up on your windscreen that you have one fitted and please prosecute me

Might have to stick with my mountain bike.
25mph seems fast on that

On the VX220 owners club we've been able to agree a deal whereby we can get the following:

LRC 100 Jammer - £235

Origin B2 - £329.95

B2 Cable - £10 (this is needed to connect the B2 unit to the jammer)

All prices include VAT and postage.

These are pretty much the best prices I've come across - if anybody knows of any cheaper please let me know!

See: http://www.vx220.org.uk/forums/index...ST&f=4&t=7943&

We need 10 people to go ahead in order to get these prices - let me know if you're interested...
