Red face Selling a car on ebay - Reserve fees

I know how to advertise on ebay, but am confused about the reserve fees.

Is there a catch with them ?
Why doesnt everyone use them ?

If I advertise a car that I dont want to sell for less than say £20,000, is there a cost even if the item doesnt sell apart from the £6 listing fee ?

What is the fee if it sell ?

Thanks

Jonathan

AFAIK, no sale = listing fee only.

If a sale is concluded, that is, it exceeded the reserve price and the opening bid, and there were no disclaimers (advertised elsewhere etc) then you're liable for 25p plus 3.3% of the winning bid (assuming that bid exceeds £10).

Cheers

I was under the impression that to sell anything on ebay, you paid the listing fee (£6 in the case of a car) plus an additional reserve price listing fee if you choose to set a reserve (in the case of cars this is fixed at £3).

If your item sells, then the reserve price listing fee is refunded, and you pay the listing fee plus a final value fee, and if it doesn't sell (normally as a result of setting the reserve too high) then you lose your listing fee, and the reserve price listing fee.

All fee's can be found here here

Hmmm... just read through it all again and I'm sure that's right

As you say, if there wasn't a "catch", then everyone would use them...
