Polar Heart Rate Monitors

Polar Heart Rate Monitors
My wife has a Polar M51 which she uses at the gym every other day for about 35 minutes each session. The battery seems to be lasting no more than 9 months which seems a very short time to me.
Do any of you use Polar HRM's, is so what battery life are you getting?

Do you mean the battery in the watch or in the chest strap? If the latter, you can conserve battery by drying the strap after use because moisture causes it to transmit the heart rate data.

As Father Jack says, are you talking about the transmitter or the watch itself? I've just had to replace the battery on my S710i after something like two years heavy use, while the chest straps last me about eighteen months, doing anywhere between 15 and 30 hours exercise a week.
As has been said, drying the chest strap (and making sure the wet elastic can't touch the electrodes) after use will make sure it switches "off" immediately. If it's stored in a bag among damp sportsgear, it'll stay switched on, with corresponding effects on battery life.
