New Haynes manual!
In the paper today, Haynes have launched a new manual..........about Sex!

*G* right then, I pulled down the manual for the Escort/Lynx 1981 - 90, opened to a random page, and found myself in the distributor assembly section:
There's a diaphragm in step 15...
10. Hold the shaft in your hand and move the shaft plate to check for free movement of the advance mechanism. It should advance easily and spring back when released.
