City of God was excellent
Caught it at the cinema.
I thought Kill Bill was excellent too, Tarantino has some style. And provides an superb contemporary vibe, in contrast to those other of my favourites like Scorsese and Coppola who have such a classic touch.
Other modern stuff that Tarantino has definately taken a leaf out of their book (plus who I love) are some Directors from the Far East.
John Woo made better films before he came to Hollywood. Check out The Killer, with a very young Chun Yow Fat. The body count there defies belief and has been copied so many times.
I also love (almost) any film with Takeshi Kitano in it. This guy acts by staring, even my Wife was spellbound, lol.
Check them out.
