Warty arm-pits
#1
I've noticed some 'tags' of skin hanging from my under arm area. They're like warts but with the life sucked out of them. I tried to cut one off yesterday with some scissors but it just became trapped between the blades – I’ll try again tonight with some nail trimmers.
Anyone else got them? What causes them?

Yes they are called skin tags, and the other post is right, do not cut them off yourself. They have lots of blood vessels going to them and can bleed for a very long while. My GP has cut off a few in the past for me, but as they are mostly out of sight I don't fret over them.
Oh and they are not cancerous or anything like that, so don't worry about your general health, unfortunately they are a little unsightly, and they are heriditary.

Very common and harmless.
GP's will remove them with an electric cautery, or, if they are big enough, you can tie a thread round the "neck" very tightly, leave for a few days, and it'll drop off.
They do feel a bit sore for the first day if you do it that way though.:

WE'VE GOT A BLEEDER!!
I've used a pair of Nail Trimmers to snip them off - by god they bleed, <sways> ohhh....I feel all weak <thud!>.
I'm off to heat a spoon handle on the gas cooker that should encumber the flow.

And when you're using the gas, DON'T put your hand in the flame, it's very hot and will seriously burn.

As anyone who is into their DIY surgery knows, nail clippers are too sharp! Had you used side cutters with blunter blades as I suggested the flesh would have been pinched together and not bled!
The Masai have long since perfected a technique for drinking blood from a cows jugular vein. When they have filled the bowl they pinch the vein closed and apply wadding made of dung - successful improvisation is the key to home sugery.
