Is it a word based search engine,if so how many approved advertisers does scoobynet have in its list, and how does scoobynet get paid for this.Is it per view etc.
I just posted about batteries for a phone and up pops a link to Uniross rechargeable's.
Seriously,i'd be interested to know, and i'm sure its not just me.

Its not advertisers in Scoobynets list, it is advertisers in Googles list.
A basic explaination is that when you load the page a request is sent to Googles servers. They then visit the page and catalogue it and do a keyword match against their list of advertisers. The google server then returns the best matches. That is why it should in theorey get more accurate as the post grows and there is more content to match against.
When you click one of the adverts it makes another request to googles server for the advert and refers the page that it was clicked from. Google then knows what advert you want to go to, and what page you have come from (i.e. a scoobynet page). You get forwarded to the link and Scoobynet gets the credit for the click.

I have to wonder how much traffic is being exchanged between Google and SN behind the scenes. Does the Google ad server have to receive a copy of every page, every time that page is changed, so it can work out what ads to serve up? That sounds like quite a bit of bandwidth - like having someone who not only reads everything on SN, but reads it all again every time something changes.

I havn't looked at it very closely, but it could be set up so your client posts a set of keywords to google each time the page is loaded. If this is the case then the overheads are all client side (i.e. our bandwidth). Depends how it is set up.
