A few weeks ago I posted a topic about how I'd been lucky enough to find an ancestor of the family, Marya Delvard on the cover of a stamp issued as it turned out by the Croatian Postal Service.
I tried and tried through various search engines to obtain some of these stamps but failed but it was still nice to know...
Brendan Hughes who has never met me and is only aware of me through the pages of this forum was kind enough to act in a totally altruistic way and offer help. He spent time emailing me and a very kind colleague of his in Croatia who was willing to visit his local P.o, pay out of his own pocket for a number of the stamps and send them to me.Wow.
How about that for community spirit?
I would never have been able to obtain the stamps without Brendans help. I think he's a really special person. Even more so because my Dads not got long to live. When he saw the stamps I'd had framed for him his face just lit up. He was so pleased and really cheered him up.
I'll never forget that. I even told him I loved him at the end which I'd never done before and well, it was just great.
So lets stop spoiling things with all these complaints about the forum OK?. It's a great place, really brings people together and has changed peoples lives for the better.
None of what I've mentioned about my Dad could I have done without being a member of Scoobynet and 'meeting' the very generous Brendan Hughes.
It all seems so petty. Lets not spoil it.

...bloody hell, thanks Andrew! (I was just going to email you to see how things were going!)
I think the whole business took about six minutes of my time.
Glad it made someone happy, and please give very best regards to your Dad!
