Wrong way round the roundabout...

This was a first for me:
The other day I was driving round a roundabout. It was quite a large one, with 5 exits. I was merrily going round, and I saw a woman getting ready to join. There was plenty of room for her to get on ahead of me, which she did. Unfortunately she turned sharp right and proceeded round the wrong way heading towards me!
I stopped and flashed my lights and sounded the horn. She continued towards me and slowed down. I was on the 'inside' of the roundabout as it were (no road markings or anything, just a very wide roundabout). She seemed to be gesturing to me that I was on the wrong side of the road, as I was over to the right! She turned right, and drove around me and continued her way round the wrong way! There wasn't anything I could do at that stage. I looked back and saw her exit the roundabout, and thankfully all the other drivers had seen her coming, so had got out of the way.
She wasn't a biddy or anything - in her 50's.
Would she have been banned if the police had seen her?

Nah. Women just get told; "Don't do it again, dear", and off they go.

BTW: done a alot of miles in traffic etc this week with the eldest who is practising for his test.
Almost without fail EVERY driver who has done something stupid/dangerous/silly/unbelievable, has been female.
Even the lad remarked on it

pity she was'nt seen by the police.
I was driving down the A3 a couple of years ago on the outside lane dual carriage way when i was confronted with a bloke driving towards me, pretty shocking. He looked suprised that people were flashing and beeping at him! How do they mess up so bad?

Saw that in Swindon a few weeks back at Greenbridge roundabout (big, fast, 5 exits, v.busy). Middle aged woman in a Corsa turns right and heads off round the wrong way heading towards the wrong sliproad of a dual-carriageway.
Very scary...

Some1 i know (male) miss heard his instructor and thought he had to go against the traffic, so went the wrong way round a roundabout...

this happened to to a mate of mine,
he went around europe on a biking holiday with his mate,
they drove back to the uk and were going round a roundabout
a tourist from belguim was going round the wrong way and they crashed, my mates now paralysed and his pal was killed.
