You can just imagine the new owner with a 693' mooring saying oh no its 3" to long I'll have to return it for a refund LOL

it is currently owned by a Brit who wants to keep it british but bidding is only open to US Citizens and you need permission to take it into US waters!!!

The Mail on Sunday has been campaigning for several weeks to get lottery & other funding to bring it back to the UK as a memorial & museum a la HMS Belfast. I believe they have managed to muster a full crew of volunteer veterans to sail it home, but are fighting government objections to buy it!
