Go to your local Pet World or similar - many of them keep breeder listing. Otherwise do a Google for Doberman Breeders to get a list.
Locate 2 or 3 breeders near you and have a chat to see who has puppies. See if you can visit them even if there is a wait to get a feel for the conditions etc and temprement of thier breeding stock.

And when choosing one, make sure you get to speak to the breeder in person, check out their living conditions, the mother, the temperament etc etc.
A good breeder will not mind you asking 1900 questions or coming to visit more than once.

Oh and if you can, ask for contact numbers of people who've had previous puppies from them. Find out how the dog's getting on.
When we chose our puppy, the breeder would take bitches back at any time and dogs up to 6 months after he'd left, in order to stop saturation breeding and keeping the line as pure as possible.

A good breeder will infact want to see you to see if you are suitable for one of their pups
You will also have to answer many questions.
If they don't, walk away, cos they are not a good breeder.

Yup! agree with Diablo on that one ! If they dont ask questions then they are not responsible breeders !
Do not assume that because they are KC reg. they are a good breeder. This is a common misconception. If you pay your ££ the KC will welcome you with open arms Unless it is a mass puppy farm job with loads of complaints they dont take too much action with dodgy breeders.
Find the Doberman club of UK or area specific club and find out more from them.

We went to look at a local breeder (not dobermanns) who was registered, and proud to show off the literally hundreds of rosettes she'd won at shows.
We walked away VERY disappointed.
Registration and rosettes aren't everything. Seeing and asking can be. We ended up driving from Sussex to Worcs to buy the right dog. 10 years later we got a second one - from Yorkshire.

it is ofteen the case if they are a breeder and dont show their dogs in the ring they are often only in the game for one reason £££££££
Stick with those that do show and if need be they will put you on to a younger kennel that is trying to establish itself prior to showing.
I am talking from experience here but with Boxers. Go the right route in the first place and it will save a lot of heartache and money.
We are now making our way to the show ring with our new pup "ozzy"

My girlfriend works for the Kennel Club at their head office in Mayfair.
Give me your email and I'll get her to email you the top breeders nearest you.

Try Kerioak Dobermann in East Sussex 01435 882572, we got our dobe from there and can honestly say he is the best dog we have had. Christine ( breeder) will vet you as much as you will vet her.

They aren't THAT insane ....
OK, they can be lollopy screwballs in their first few years. But I wouldn't want any other breed. Loyal to the last, very affectionate, and scares burglers on sight
