Where Does All The Money Go?
#1
In an average month I pay:
£490 income tax
£209 national insurance
£134 Council tax
£276 Pension
£15 towards VEL
Approx £30 tax on my petrol(Luckily I don't do many miles)
VAT on just about everything I buy
And what have we got to show for it......?
Crap Roads
Health Service struggling to cope
Schools having to beg, borrow and steal
So where does all the money go?

Exactly the sort of thing I wonder every month.
Back in the 80's, labour used to whinge about the amount we spent on defence. Yet, at that time I was a student and got a grant right through Polytechnic. No fees, no loans. They must have saved billions from this - where has it all gone. Yet New Labour say we still have to pay even more taxes.
I had to fill in a Tax Self Assessment Form this year for the first time - why don't the masses of people who claim benefits have to fill in forms yearly to prove they should be entitled to the benefits they're getting? It's not just the false claimants either - there are loads of people who could work more hours a week, but do not, because they will be worse off because of the ridiculous benefits and child tax credit systems.
Add to that the money they are throwing at Health and Education. These areas do need vast amounts of spending, but I doubt very much if the money is being spent wisely.
My Father in Law was unemployed recently for about 2 months for the first time in his life. Needless to say, after paying tens of thousands in tax over the years, he was only eligble (sp?) to £50 per week. This because he had savings.
This government tax the **** out of decent wage earning people - they'd flog your house in old age to pay for care when you're elderly too. Yet work not one day in your life, you'll get housing benefit, unemployment benefit, incapacity benefit, free presciptions, no council tax, free healthcare, free dentists etc, etc, then they'll pay and care for you throughout your old age.
Why TF should we bother!
