London Driveway/Road parkers - Beware !!!!!
#1
I left my Scooby on the drive last night. At about 2 am I heard a noise at the window. I took a peek outside and there was a red MK II escort with blacked out windows, sitting right outside my drive. I opened the window and asked what was up. With that they ubruptly drove off.
I rang the police, who came by half an hour later and they told me the following: There's a gang probing around London and London suberbs. They are stealing Scoobys of any size/colour/description for export order. Their method is to keep an eye on the car and the property for a few days. They then swing by late at night and throw a stone at the house windows to see if they get any response. If no response, then they break into the car and take it. If no reponse, then they just drive off, like they did with me. The red fiesta has been reported a few times now, but have been told they change cars every now an then.
My neighbour accross the road from me had his hard top stolen from his E36 BMW, which was on his driveway about 2 weeks ago. Police think its the same gang.
Went out this morning and picked up a wireless remote camera, which I have put up in the front of the house now. Hopefully when they see this, it might deter them next time, but I hope there won't be a next time......
So....Be on your guard Ladies and Gentlemen.

Oo-er. At least the police are aware of it but they don't sound as if they're doing anything about it!
Make sure the camera's set up so you can get a clear view of them otherwise it won't be any good except as a deterent, but if they know it's not aimed right they might ignore it anyway. If they are making a mint they might take the risk.

Got to say, that the police were quite helpfull in this case. They said that they were quite lucky, as the cars taken so far, have not had Trackers fitted to them.
Do you think they might have access to a database that lists Tracked cars ? I find it a bit hard to believe that the Scoobys that have been taken, that not one of them had a Tracker fitted..
Coincidence ????

Mr Gee - not good
I'm sort of in the area - could you drop me an email with where you live (just the general area), rather than posting up on the board?
Thanks
Chris

We used to live `south Enfield` too, but everything was becoming too much for us......schools,attitudes of neighbours, asylum seekers, crime, and then a friend of ours, who lived a couple of streets away, had his scoob stolen, broke in in middle of the night, threatened him with a gun for the keys, then drove off with the car.......so we decided enough was enough, so we upped and moved.
Best thing we have ever done but it took us until it was nearly too late, if you get my drift, wish we had done it when the area started to go down hill!!!!!!
Anyway, hope they get the scumbags....
Joan.
