Question for Creative Zen NX MP3 users
#3
Can't answer the question but does anyone know if the new(ish) Zen Xtra 60Gig appears as a drive in Windows or do you need to use the Creative software to access it?
I rather fancy one as it can play .wav files and is big enough to store a few piano concertos but I would also like to use it for data without the overhead of needing special software to get at it. Any info I can get from the Creative site says something about "using the Windows Explorer plug in to transfer photos and data..."

I can play them anywhere (I think) - to be honest I'm just using silly old mp3 at the moment.
Let me have a play and confirm.
Also to answer the other question above - yes the nx appears as a hard drive if just plugged into windows xp without the drivers installed (the driver you use dictates what the thing acts like)
I use musicmatch to rip and copy cd's to the NX - not the supplied software
