Rather than the silver ones which us old buggers have?

Slightly concerned, as Boots dentalcare are hinting that they're going to charge us £75 each for my daughters two fillings!

I have always had white fillings and no they arent covered on the NHS- you have to pay for them

£75 is a tad steep....most i have paid has been £65- and that was for a really really deep and awkward one (so i was told)

Normally in the region of 35-40 each-

incidentally, i have loads of fillings- all white- and none of them have ever fallen out or broken- unlike some of the old silver ones i had when i was younger (which have since been replaced with white)

Did you have to pay because you are over 16 though (sorry, excuse the assumption) ~ she's only 12.

thanks for the reply,
simon.

Yes i still had to pay when i was under 16- silver fillings are covered on the nhs-but whites were deemed 'a luxury'

White ones are considered cosmetic so are not available on the NHS. My wife works for Boots Dental care.

worth every penny (i dread adding up how much all my white dental work has cost me)

Dont get that annoying pain when silver fillings touch tin foil either- i have never had one break either

Tooth coloured restorations ARE available as a NHS item depending on the tooth and the position of the restoration.

Are the silver ones better/longer lasting though?
