Sorry Gareth, I have been looking since I posted and cant find the details although I did notice a few kinetics on E Bay at some decent prices, I also have a 003 auto relay shop bought, How about a Raymond Wiel W1 with red face and strap, only worn about 3 times, bit of an impulse buy that has been sitting in the tin so long the battery has gone flat!!

i quite like the look of that. i was reading some blurb and it says that the watch "goes to sleep" when not in use and then moves the hands back to the right time when it "wakes up". this seems a bit weird. does anyone know if this business reduces the accuracy of the watch?

The one pictured above doesn't go to sleep but the other one (sma003 auto relay) that I mentioned does, it keeps going but cuts the drive to the hands, it does lose a few seconds when you wake it up but not a lot and you have to manually reset the date!

I've got the black version of that watch. Bought it from a guy called Jaff-Watches on ebay. I think another seller called watchworx sells them too. However I have looked for them since buying mine over half a year ago and haven't seen any.

wouldn't it be easier to just make the thing work all the time? what's the point of a date function if you have to reset it every day ffs?
i think i would prefer the non sleeping version. any other suggestions, as i am looking for a watch? i want something robust, 100% reliable and indestructable, not flashy, and not expensive (i.e. sub £500).
I was gonna break the bank and go for a bell and ross or something, but in the current economic climate, i can't really afford that.
i prefer simple designs rather then the "cram on as many chronos and bits and peices as we can" type of look.
cheers.

Charlie, it takes 4 days for the watch to hibernate and it's only then you need to reset the date, might be able to pick up a Tag for £500 on E Bay, I quite fancy a Kirium but a bit pricey for me,

Do you remember when these first came out and was doing the rounds in FHM, GQ, etc?
They were £450 in the shops here, but I managed to get mine in Hong Kong for £200!!
About 2 years ago I got anther one, full metal strap, rather than part plastic/part metal. I got that for £220 in Hong Kong (but the exchange rate for HK dollars wasn't as good at the time, as it was actually cheaper than the previous watch!! )
BA are doing cheap flights to HK at the moment!!
