Can anyone give me the lowdown on this??

I've got Nero 6 and wanted to write a long bit of video to VCD or SVCD. The avi file is 700+Meg on the hard disk.

When I drag it to a SVCD on Nero it vanishes off the end of the screen in terms of size, despite me having selected the "fit on disk" option for bitrate.

Just out of interest I hit the "burn" button anyhow and it is currently encoding the video but it's going to take a while, to say the least.

Will it make it fit on the disk or will it just tell me that it's not going to fit once it's finished encoding? If so is there any easy way to get it to fit or to split the video files? I would really rather not get into editing the video etc. and would rather that there was just a "split" button but perhaps Nero can do this?

Any help gratefully received.

i find that 700 mb avis, are bigger when made into mpg for vcd purpose
so i split them in two and write to 2 cd's usually

Do you know of an easy way to split the file or can Nero do it automatically?

You need a programme called MPEG Tool, can be got off kazaa or download.com. then you just half the program and it will fit on two cd's. hope this helps
