New Company Car
#1
Hi there more advice needed
I have been offered a new job and in that i get a company car 2 of the guys there have just ordered new RX8's, now what do you people think of pros and cons of having one of these, or any ideas of what to get instead, its about 450 amonth allowance, i would say subaru but i dont really like the new shape scoobys and for the amount of petrol i would get through driving one it would cost me a fortune....
Top Gear loves the new RX8, what do Scoobynet think?

don't worry about the fuel - worry about the company car tax instead. with an STi you are paying 35% of the list price of the car, at your marginal rate, every year. that's why i got rid of mine. I don't know what the CO2 figure is for a WRX but i would imagine it is still in or near the top bracket. if you buy something reasonably economic to run you will almost certainly be better off taking the allowance, particularly if you can claim business milage on top.

it is a car allowance as i said 450 a month, i have to get a car which is either one year old or new. they give a petrol card as well so i have to pay for personal mileage.
i thought i had already said that

What are you planning to do with the £450 a month? Lease a car, or are you buying one outright? Remember that the £450 is pre-tax, so it'll be more like £300 a month if you're a basic rate taxpayer (22% tax, 11% NI) or about £260 a month if you're higher rate taxpayer (40% tax, 1% NI)
