Jase,
I was working for a company, and wanted to start on my own, so i suggested that i contract back to them.
(obvious advantage to me was that i was getting bored, so no need to be there 5 days a week) advantage to them, no holiday/sick payouts!!
i managed to wangle about the same monthly money for doing a 3 day week (2 at home, 1 in london) as i did doing a 5 dayer!!
anyway, this paved the way to getting some more contracts via friends, previous suppliers, basically anyone i knew in IT, knew i was about looking for other channels.
then i managed to "trip" over a really big client, and so i have cut down my contract time to the old company to 1 day a week and spend more time with others.
i'm at home at least 3 days a week, to play with my son, take him to school etc. and the quality of life, although a bit stressy at times is 100% better then before.
Its a big step, but i for one will never go back to being an employee!!!
give it some thought
