If you dont like paying it & who does. Aparently I have been told, one way to "annoy" the Tax man is to really screw up the cheque & then flatten it out before you put it in the envelope. The cheque is still legally acceptable but it wont go through some of the automated machines they have & has to be processed by hand.
I dont know if its true or not, perhaps others could comment but why not give it a go

I heard a similar thing with staples - ie when you send them a cheque staple it to another bit of paper.
they hate it because they have to remove the staple before they can process it.....so staple it with 20 staples to really annoy em !

Yeh I had a rant at work about this.
Never had to fill a tax return in & - as long as I am PAYE - I dont feel I ever should.
Now I have to take time out to get a return done before end Jan all because they are useless.
Right...where is my stapler ?

LOL who gives a **** if you think its sad? They p!ss me off by wasting my time filling in a tax return although I am PAYE and have no other dealings. If they can't get my tax returns right through their OWN systems then they need to sort that problem out!
I am having to do their work for them basically Am I being paid for it? No. They can fek off and do their own job
Wonder if I can get one of those really large cheques you see on Red Nose Day programs and then staple the living daylights out of it

Guys,
If any of you are on the higher rate of tax and have a company pension scheme, then its in your own best interests to complete a tax return.
I'm also PAYE and have has to fill in a return for the past 5 years - think they somehow forgot about me and hence the dear sir please fill in your 2001/2002 return, oh and once you've done that here's the previous 4 years to fill in too!

there was an ad on the radio this morning for some software. Costs £20 and they guarantee that you can do your tax return in 30 minutes or will refund you the money. Cant remember what it was called and have already sent mine off (owe them £3.28 ) but might be worthwhile for next year. I guess the £20 is tax deductable too

I have the huge pleasure of a first tax bill that would buy a new WRX Payment on account boosts it up rather.
However, I will politely send them an unmolested cheque as it is my civic duty

yeah, i had the same problem, john. i was feeling really smug that i had put aside enough money to pay last year's tax bill, and lo and behold, they want half of this year's money as well. i should have "moved" some of last year's money into this year.
