M6 Toll - any speed cameras?
#1
I've been on it a few times, but only at night.
I didn't see any proper Gatso/Truvelo style cameras, but does anyone know if there are any SPECS cameras on it?
Not that i've exceeded 70mph of course....

No cameras, but the police heavily fleece it, because its far easier target to catch speeders on a relatively empty road, than to catch them dangerously tailgating, speeding past busy traffic etc. Barstewards!!

The police do set speed traps - i saw one with a laser the very first time i drove on it.
The police do not have to pay to use the road (for police purposes).
There are no cameras (whether GATSO, Truvelo or SPECs) - at least not yet.
As you only ever pass through a single toll booth on a journey, they cannot time your trip.

Used it 6 times now and will be tomorrow
No Speed Camera's on it YET My snopper is really quite no CCTV spamming it off either
You only go through a pay area once so they can't time you
Cheers Nick

Have been told there are SPECS on it all the way down set at 78 mph. I know one thing thou. Its not going to be the gold mine they thourght it was going to be. The Que yesterday evening on M6 north was cronic. j6 back to j 4 and hardly anything using the toll road.

they are all fools then, the toll road was awesome.
very tempting to speed too as the road surface is lovely.
Went on it with a newly updated origin b2 and it didn't indicate any specs cameras, whereas on all other specs infested stretches it tells me what they are and which camera of the chain I am passing and the speed limit.
If the M6 toll is a private road then surely the police cannot enforce the speed limit? that would be like pulling over schumacher as he laps silverstone, or more likely stopping tiff and jeremy when they lap milbrook speed bowl at over 155mph.

It's a nice idea that the M6 toll being a private road has no speed limit enforceable, but can't see it in reality.
I assume the private builder and operator has won a government contract to provide and manage the road, but under the normal jurisdiction of the police and other laws.

IIRC all traffic laws are enforceable on private property with the consent of the owner. In theory, Lord Whatsisface could invite Plod onto his land and ticket everyone who does the hill climb at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
