A persons most valuable asset is likely to be any property or land they own.

So if someone can afford to retire early, as discussed in the retirement thread, that person would need to be worth over 1mill to have a good standard of life..

Just my thoughts..

But that's a trickle asset. Payable until death.

It depends on how you quantify wealth.

You could always ask a person how much they are worth. For example, I'm worth around 3.2 million pounds, and that is personal wealth and does not include any property or land I may own.

My parents $$ worth is quite a bit I guess but it is all in property. Their joint income through pensions and holiday lets amounts to probably less than £17k per anum. My mum still has to work on the holiday stuff & pay for upkeep of houses etc. Out of this they feed/clothe/heat/run car etc etc. They have obviously no mortgage to pay, so it is just upkeep and heat/light, which can be managed on a tight budget. They're not well off in the sense they can go & blow money on holidays and life o'reilly, but their net worth is high.

However, on another plane, they are wealthy in their life because they are content and at peace with themselves. They've had their exciting times and are now able to enjoy their life more. So, a different sort of wealth.

Puff - think Chaos is just interested in monetary (sp) wealth and not the peace or mind or happiness type of wealth.

lol @ PC - hmm, I'd need to see five different forms of identification, character references from a few professional people, and four months worth of bank statements. Plus have a few pints with you before I'd even consider it Plus what is a score? it's that like a halfweight?

PC - 20 for a halfweight, that's pretty reasonable

Agree with the point about health being the most valuable thing.

I mean hes so sad, no morgage to pay, house worth a fair bit, got golden hand shake, loads of inheritance, never buys anything worth of value, drives a standard car. He just buys 10000's of shares and invests it, that is so sad..

Whats the point of working if you never spend it?

You know, people make the strangest friends and decisions when they're a bit older.

For all you know, he's had a lifelong passion for cats and has made the will out to the local cat rescue place.

His money, he doesn't have to leave it to you, you know.

Well said mate and I'm sure if Chaos' dad ever read half of the stuff that he says about him, that would help clarify his decision.

Chaos

How does it feel to be such a figure of hate on SN... does it make your little weener grow a bit ?
