Vaguely remember a new law along the lines of plod can fine you if you exhaust *seems* to be louder than standard, without even needing to db test it

Sure someone will provide more info soon.

Suits me fine as my exhaust is standard...of course the Termi's on my Ducati should be fine

Yikes, I'd better stay off the loud pedal when I'm in the Landy V8

I'm sure the NASCAR exhaust note is a incy bit too loud

Oh that's just great isn't it? Next they'll be able to stop you for speeding just because it looked like you were going fast and they're already just so fair over motoring offences aren't they

Anyone know if this is definitely true?

tiggers.

Keep it in perspective - they said seems louder than standard.

You'd get away with a scoobysport backbox in the real world (unless you were being a d!ck and plod needed to do you). a full decat is most obviously non standard.

Better switch the engine off goin past plod if you have HKS/Blitz/BPMs

I could be wrong on this, but is not the same law that applies to motorbikes finally being applied to cars then?

IIRC, exhausts have to be stamped with something or other to show something or other... This is one of the justifications why the prodrive backbox is more expensive, as it has this stamp thingy.

Sorry to be vague - hopefully someone with more knowledge will be able to post here.

Cheers,
Nick.

For bikes the exhaust silencer has to be BS stamped - MOT failure otherwise. I assume there are exclusions for older bikes as I doubt you can buy a BS-stamped silencer for a Rudge or Manx Norton !
Doing a DIY-BS-stamp on your silencer at home is a definite no-no and is seen, IIRC, as perverting the course of justice or such like.

That's the bunny - I *think* it also applies to cars, but hasn't been enforced at the moment?

Too much legalise bull**** around this subject for me to dive into it

There's nothing wrong with DIY BS stamping on race pipes
Seriously though you've probably got to be a bit of **** to get done for this. Never been stopped on the bike with race pipe- just select 6th on the way past plod...

Whats that about having to be a di*k...... I was pulled the other day for........

''pulling away too energetically at a road junction'' - I mean whats all that about then.......... its called not wanting to hold up the traffic behind me and finding a gap in the traffic......

Loud exhausts - I want them to show me the paragraph in their little book before I accept a producer/fine.........
