"Luxury" items. What the hell is that all about then?

So,
I go into the shop to buy some wrapping paper.
[street trader voice]
"Oh that's two sheets for £1.50 sir. Oooooooooooooooh, wait a minute, that label says 'luxury' gift wrap, so that'll be two billion pounds instead sir..."
And it doesn't stop at wrapping paper. Bog roll, tea cloths, hand towels. What's the fecking difference between that and the normal stuff? None! Grrrrrrrrr..........
Simon.

Have you actually compared cheapo own-brand bogroll to the luxury stuff ? Believe me, you can tell the difference !! I personally prefer not to scrape my ar$e with sandpaper and then poke my own finger up my own sh1tty ar$e ! Double-quilted velvet bogroll made out of soft kittens is the way to go.
Agree about the rest of it though - they should just make quality goods at reasonable prices, although we all know that while people pay for it, they can keep ripping us off.

PMSL @ tracing paper Charmin is the best I reckon. Yet to stick my finger through a sheet, even without doubling up first
I agree that some places just want to charge high prices (Harrods is a good example) but most of the time you gets what you pay for IMO.
Now Tesco's finest mince pies are definately better than the regular ones. I've got to be careful that I don't eat too many (brandy in em) but they're lovely IMO.

I stopped off at a farmhouse "cream teas" type place in the middle of nowhere once, went to use the outside thunderbox and the toilet paper was a loop of string stuck through a load of paper bags!
Wasn't sure whether to wipe it or bag it!
