I have/had a PP account, not used it fdor ages, i keep getting reminders, so far 42 of them about the account being deactivated in five days time, this has now gone on for 8 days or so.

Is it a scam or virus or some sort of trick to get details?

Dear PayPal member,

We regret to inform you that your account is about to be expired in next five business days. To avoid suspension of your account you have to reactivate it by providing us with your personal information.

To update your personal profile and continue using PayPal services you have to run the attached application to this email. Just run it and follow the instructions.

IMPORTANT! If you ignore this alert, your account will be suspended in next five business days and you will not be able to use PayPal anymore.

Thank you for using PayPal.

It has an attachment that appears to be 'norton' but to be honest i am wary of opening it.

It just seems a bot odd.

I have emailed PP but just get automated responses asking me to log onto the site. I cannot remember my details anyway and do not want to use it.

Any thoughts???

DO NOT do anything that e-mail says. It's a scam.

Yep scam - I've been getting a lot of these lately. The attachment is always blocked by the AV software. Delete them. You can also report it to Paypal if you want.

Definitely a scam. I received one on my hotmail account (which has never been registered with Paypal). Following the link leads to an official looking page asking for all credit card details - even the pin number! I suppose for every 100 people who ignore it there is one mug who will fill out the form.

Thumbs down

Treat any email with random letters such as ghjgmaam
in it as very suspect....
