Any one know the fors and against for all these, which is best?
I am told that reliability is suspect on Plasma and LCD.
If you have any knowledge or experience please share it.

Depents on what exactly you want it for and what size you want. There are more problems with pixels out on plasma and LCD than CRT and to be honest the picture is only as good not better, well until you see the new Pioneer 434.

If you want the best possible picture but aren't too bothered about a huge screen and the physical size then CRT is still best. The benefits of plasma are obvious, small footrint or wall hangable and large screen size. PQ on the newer (Pana PW6/Pioneer 434) are a big leap forward for the technology. Reliability is a concern, as they don't often go wrong, but when they do they're usually trash. Buy from John Lewis and play some canny games with internet price matching and you'll get both a good price and a five year guarantee. LCD is only viable for small screens as yet, only Samsung have a large (40") model. PQ looks good but I think it will be a year or two yet before they offer a serious challenge to CRT or plasma. Organic LED is creeping up behind to attack both flat screen technologies, and when it does it will probably kill off CRT too.

Hmm, not sure about that.. early Plasmas maybe.. but then early TVs weren't reknowned for being great. Modern, fan-less Plasmas are fine.. razor sharp picture and look great..

We fitted a plasma in a guys pool room. He wanted it in front of his exercise bike. We told him that if probably wouldn't last more than six months with the humididty. He said if it went pop he'd just buy another one. It's been there now for over two years and is still going strong. (one of the fan cooled ones)

maybe chaz knows about this. i saw a samsung lcd "projector" tv which has a much smaller depth and weight than crt yet looked really good. was 44 inches and cost £1799.

It probably uses an LCD projector onto a screen. This later style of LCD RP TV doesn't suffer from the same flaws as the earlier technology, shallow viewing angles etc. As the projectors are designed to diplay upto 8' when they are viewed on a 44" screen the pictures a very good. Better still are the RP TV's that use a DLP projector.
