Ive just received my dvd of donnie darko on region one.
I have a wharfedale dvd player which has a remote hack (0,1,2,3 and then play).
its worked in the past, excellently.
But I put my version of donnie on and the screen goes weird, like the vertical hold is ballacksed, wont go away unless i turn the player off and after which region 2 discs play just fine.
now without any "its because its a weird film" oir anything the like can someone techie please give me a speedy response as to a probable cause and outcome.
I will nip round my mates later to see if it plays on his multi region, so as to rule out disc error.
thanks
Andy

Maybe its RCE (Regional Coding Enhanced or summit like that) not your usual standard of Region Protection
They do usually warn (well Play does) that they may not work on multi region players

Very unlikely - RCE discs just display a world map and a patronising message about buying discs intended for your particular region.
More likely it's just that your TV can't display NTSC - how old is it?
