My farther is a bit of a chef and for chrimbo I want to get him some chefs knives. But I have a problem, I know absolutely nothing about them, so I'm appealing to the ScoobyNet knowledge base.

Anyone point me in the right direction?

Cheers

Argooos

Sabatier 5 Piece Knife Block Set.

£79.99

Traditional knives with aluminium bolster and rivets.

The knives are dishwasher safe and have a 20 year guarantee.

Set comprises of parer, all purpose, carver, 15cm cook's and bread knives.

Added to say IMHO Knives with Metal handles are not good
Seem to not grip well

Sainsburys do the Balance range and I think their great.

Block and 5 knives is £150.00, or are available seperatly.

some sabatiers are better than others. that was a song by the smiths but there's a lot of truth in it. for some reason there is more than one "sabatier" brand.

Iv'e tried most of them and use Kitchen Devil range at home. Cool they aren't, cheap they may be, balanced (which is what it's all about) they certainly are.
