Pre-Barretts Rally breakfast meet
Hi all,
OK,only 3 days to go to the rally so I'm starting a new thread. (changed the smiley too, to build up a little enthusiasm!!)
Here is the plan.
Meet up at the Little Chef at Harbledown near Canterbury on the A2 at 8.00am.
For those travelling down the M2 they should turn off at the Canterbury junction (where the road splits, left lane Canterbury, right lane A299 Ramsgate/Margate -take the left lane!) you will come to a roundabout on the slip road where you want to turn right (3rd exit) heading Canterbury A2. About a mile or two down the dual carriageway you will see the Little Chef/services/holiday inn on the left!
They open at 7.00a.m. There is a Holiday Inn right next to it where those who want to stay the night could stop. The price of a room is £54.50 but if there is a group booking then you could probably get the £43.50 special rate. It's a year old and rooms are supposedly much better than travel lodge. The price also includes a continental breakfast.
The little chef/holiday inn at harbledown is located on the A2 Canterbury bound just off the M2. (For those who are interested, Holiday inn is on 01227 865000)
The Rally starts at 11.00am but last year there wasn't a lot of parking and the response on Scoobynet has been massive so expect a lot of scoobies. The organisers have been pre-warned about the scooby phenomenon and they're a little preoccupied as to how they will fit us all in. I suggest we arrive there at around 10.15-10.30 at the latest to ensure parking spaces. From the Chef to the stages will probably take around 30-45mins. This means that to have a decent meet we should really be looking at meeting at around 8.00am and leaving for the rally around 9.30am latest. We could then leave in convoy after breakfast and head into Canterbury heading out past wincheap and on to Ashford.
A show of numbers..("me too"'s would do) would be useful as I phoned the chef and if there will be quite a few of us they would like to be pre warned so they are staffed and stocked up.
So far there are 4 cars confirmed (3 eating)and quite a lot more unconfirmed! This is the first meet in the South East and it really would be nice to make it a good one. Pictures etc. will also be taken during the day for True Grip so make sure the cars are clean (or extremely muddy).
Apologies to those of you who have read the previous threads on this and are re-reading the same material! Could all those of you who expressed interest in a meet previously let me know asap so that I can warn the chef of rough numbers!
Thanks to all of you,
Hope to see you all there!!

Hi all,
So far seven cars (approximately 20 people)have confirmed so I'll be phoning the Little Chef and warning them of at least a minimum of twenty people. I'll give them a ring later this afternoon just in case there are any last minute posters. A Barretts car may be joining us in the morning too. There should be a few more joining for the convoy but skipping breakfast.
I have been warned to wrap up warm. The organisers don't want people walking on the track to get to spectating points so they've cut a track through the forest. This means lots of wet grass so don't wear your best shoes!! Seriously though, whatever shoes you wear are likely to get wet. It may also rain so be prepared with brolley or hat, and if it does rain prepare for some wet mud being kicked up by cars as they fly around the bend broadside!!
Thanks again for letting me know.
Best wishes,
Nito
