Another thumbs-up for the Ebac - i have the 2600e, but don't believe the "whisper quiet"-ness. On floorboards they can give a low-frequency boom that carries quite a way.
A couple of interesting things about dehumidifiers is that dryer air has a lower specific heat capacity, so it takes less heat to warm your place up. Also, the process of condensing the moisture expells heat, so that warms things up even more (albeit by an 'ickle bit!).
It is surprising how much water can be collected in a single day!
