AFter the change in the law, I want to buy a car kit. Anybody got any recommendations for a 00MY turbo ? I keep seeing cheap ones around that offer to do the job, but if i'm gonna spend £30 on cr#p, might as well not bother. Rather spend £100+ if thats gonna get me better results in terms of performance. The phone is a Samsung A800, but should have the same connections as a T100 etc.
Any advice please ?

Can't comment on Samsung, but Nokia provide car kits, so I assume Samsung do something similar.

Have a look on yell.com for a Car Electrical company near you and ask them. The company I work for is installing kits to all our cars, it seems that on the 00MY they fit it to the left of the stereo. Also worth making sure the fitter can do it without drilling holes in your dash!

The guys who did mine were very good and for £30 they put me a mute cable in so it goes through the stereo speakers (muting the radio first) rather than having an external speaker

I bought one of the £5 cheapos as an interim to an upcoming phone change, when I'll get a proper kit fitted. Nice kit, seems a sensible design and good value for the money.

Fitted it last night when I gave the motor a good clean. Got to the car this morning and the stick-on speaker had already fallen down - the stick didn't stick too well when the temps fell below zero...

Cool

Could go for one of the bluetooth ones - don't need a cradle and doesn't make much of a mess on the dashboard. costs around £130 fitted.

Cheers for the ideas guys. Seems that Samsung dont so one for my model but an option is to buy a 2nd hand Nokia phone and kit which I can get fitted for £150 all in.
I then just get a 2nd SIM that costs £7 a month and runs from my number, (need to type a code into whichever phone i'm using to acivate either, but not both at the same time)
Not great but better than the rubber band !

wouldnt you be better off upgrading your phone to one which has a specific car kit.. then you dont have to run 2 sim cards, you get a new better spec phone and aren`t spending 150quid on a kit for a second hand phone..

btw. if the kit is a cark-91 there is still no upgrade to the 6310i, and i havent heard of them bringing a new phone out with the same connections.. worth a thought maybe ?

I had a car kit in my old 306, it came with an instal kit which cost extra. This had an adaptor which fitted the cradle to the dash without drilling anything (fitted to the stereo cage). Also an aerial hidden in a tax disc holder, and the wiring to connect to the stereo so that you don't need a speaker. This only works if your stereo isn't wired through amplifiers.

I now have a nokia car kit for my GTO which I'm waiting to fit. Cost about £70 on ebay brand new. Worth upgrading to a Nokia, as they make the best car kits.
