What was the point of these then?
There seemed to be a lot of them around in the late 70's, early 80's.
Did they have a function or were they there to make the car look sexy
Seems odd to me, never saw a vinyl boot or wheel arch

Did see a lot of wardrobes on wheels when I went to the states a few years ago. Some of the cars seemed to be made almost completely of wood, which may go someway into explaining why they handle like a boat. LOL.

Primarily used on fords cos they couldn't get paint to stick on the roofs !

I think they were to make poor people believe they had a soft top
