My other half has got her 'call up' papers arrive this morning.
She is keen to do her duty but a couple of questions.
She is working part time via an agency, assumingf she does her jury service she will be out of pocket due to loss of earnings, are the agency likely to pay this or can she claim for it.
Also she pays the child minder/nursery out of her earnings, is this an expense we can claim for?
Not trying to milk the system or take the pee just like to know if this will cost us as money is tight having gone from two salaries down to one as a freelancer (me) and a with Jenny having a baby, Jenny has only been working for 6 weeks.
Many thanks
Paul

Paul, when she replies to the papers, they'll send a very comprehensive pack back with details of what to claim.
Be careful though, if you get sent home in the afternoon, they'll only pay half a days wages so hopefully her temp contract will allow her to turn up for half days at a time unannounced.
MrsREV did jury service a few weeks back and only did 3.5 or 4.5 days out of the 10.

Well, I've been twice, each time was supposed to be two weeks.
The first time I didn't get onto a jury, and was dismissed after 5 days, and the second, I did get onto a jury, trial lasted 3 days, then sent home.
DEFO take a book or some magazines, otherwise it's soooooooo boring.

I got on it, six weeks of a drug trial for weed dealers, comical criminals and the Police werent much better, gave me a good understanding of the legal system and a healthy disdain for overpaid barristers, was an experience I wouldnt change but it cost me my job really, cocked things up no end for me at work so I had to move on, did me a favour I suppose.
