If he's not insured, £100K+ is £100K+ in anyone's money.. Just because the guys on here can afford to buy a Scoob.. I don't think they'd be too happy writing it off and losing the money.

He’s not the first one to do it by the look of all the skid marks coming into that corner.

Bet that concrete barrier has clamed the life of a few cars in its time. Stupid really it doesn’t even need to be there, there’s plenty of run off space a simple gravel trap would do.

I agree. Can't quite work out the geography of that corner either. Its difficult to see from that picture why they would go off there on the inside of the bend!?

Easy to see why they go off...With the camber of that corner...scenario i bet is this...

They keep throttle open in top gear over that hill as per quary corner at CC - the come down to see a left turn in the road followed by a right - lock the rear up and slide into that barrier....image putting a concrete barrier the otherside of the camber at quary corner(CC) and watch the n00b who dont listen to the instructers or listen to track brief...there would be loads there to..

Feel sorry for the guy but hey - i bet in the track brief the explaned this situation but he just went to quick for himself....

as per quary corner at CC
Funny you should say that, I was actually thinking exactly the same thing with that rise before the corner!

The best (worst!) thing about Quarry at Castle Combe is that you actually lose it long before you get to the corner! However, all the accidents I have seen there have been on the outside of the bend.

Thing is with quary everyone warns you 2/3 times before you start - you then have your sighting lap and an instructor lap if your new so its very rare to get someone coming full pelt over the camber of the hill as they know its coming...

LOL what he has done is only possible i think through not remember that corner and keeping the throttle on full..

Being sent round the office already - ....Getting comments like:-

Jocky!!!
Gutted!!
OMG!!!
Lady driver!!!
Driving to fast!!!

At least he learned a valuable lesson...as did the other drivers i bet.

lol!

You are dead right. Last track day I did at Combe they actually said in the briefing "someone will go off at Quarry today - make sure it isn't you"

Sure enough, one stuffed it into the tires and one stopped facing the other way somehow managing to avoid any damage

As I said before, you could tell an accident was coming way before the corner from just the way they had set the car up coming into the bend. The balance was all wrong for the speed they were doing.... oh well.... natural selection and all that!

That is a bit more like the exit of lodge at Oulton than Comb, downhill with a nasty camber to the outside that spits you out and throws you to the inside if you get it wrong.

I think the barriers are there to protect anyone going down the infield road you can see in the background, it looks like a pit exit road maybe.

I hate seeing cars like that destroyed, very sad.

This was sent round about a year ago. IIRC it's a circuit in the USA (someone on here identified it I think).
