As a Labour supporter, even I find myself in total disbelief in the current state of our country.

Criminals are allowed to ply their trade with impunity while ordinary people are penalised for non-criminal activities.

We take in more than our fair share of imigrants and spend hundreds of thousands of pounds on housing them and giving them benefits.

So, the answer: don't vote for Labour next time round. But who do you vote for?

The Tories? They are incapable of running a political party at the moment, never mind a country.

The LibDems? Don't make me laugh

So who?

Personally, despite being patriotic in the past, I've just about lost patience and am seriously considering moving to another country.

Yours totally fed up

Don't get me started on this one...

Promises, promises, promises. Oh and if anything goes t1ts up - it was a legacy issue from the previous Tory government!!!

Trouble is - who do you replace them with? Andy Gilchrist and the FBU? LOL!

My vote will be for the BNP

The only party that believes in looking after its own people:THE PEOPLE OF GREAT BRITAIN.
Speaking to many "older"people of this community, people who put their lives on the line for the uk, their votes will be for the BNP also. The British people have had enough,Its about time we take our country back

I know that things are a right state and Labour are a complete bunch of numpties, but I do hope your vote for the BNP is posted in jest.

Sorry, brainwashed as a child to be tory, so afaic, they couldn't be any worse than those red plebs, regardless of organization imo.

I am just bricking it over the fact that Bla is getting us into god know's what with Bush or Chimp over Iraq.

2 of the world's dumbest men in control of 2 of the world's most important countries.

Truly scary times......

Cheers,

Nick

The BNP would be a good choice if they weren't a bunch of racist thugs. I simply can't agree with their policy of giving money to non-whites in return to them emigrating back to their "coubtry of origin"

I want a party that beleives in personal responsibilites and personal freedom, but sadly, no such party currently exists.

My post was not in jest
I have just read a article in a sunday paper which just added fuel to my support for the BNP.
A soldier who fought in the last war with Iraq for the UK is living on the streets(not because he wants to).Meanwhile in a plush London Hotel some illegal immigrant scum (paid £3700 to be illegally shipped in a lorry)claiming asylum is having 3 cooked meals, free tv,clothing allowance, shopping allowance!!!Where is the justice in that??
Why dont we start looking after our own people FIRST!!??
And how come most of these Illegal immigrants are men??shouldnt it be women and children first??

It really gets on my nerves
Everyone has their views ,and that was mine

I couldnt vote when Thatcher was in Power (too young) But If she made a political comeback (unlikely I know) I would willingly vote for her. Assuming she carried the same ideals regarding the country as before, but with the bits most people didnt like quietly dropped.

A kind of "New Tories" if you will

I will be doing as usual and using my vote in the correct way, by staying at home and not giving a ****!

For me personally, it doesn't matter who is in power, as there are very few politicians who are representative of any people I know.

I couldn't be more disenfranchised, so bring on the next bunch of muppets to lead this country down the drain. The majority of people living in Britain are so stupid, I think it's time to get rid of democracy, and bring in a dictator to tell people what to do, since they have no freedom of choice anyway.

P.S. I want to be dictator so I can introduce IQ regulated birth control

The trouble with any sort of democracy, is that you get the thick 97% of this country's population just following the herd baa baa baa! As they are too dense to see past the gloss at the real issues. I say bring in IQ tests if you want to vote as most people that I have met, are so far removed from reality that it is scary thinking that they get a say on who will run the country.
Now doesn't that explain why the country gets the Politicians that it deserves as the populuss is a group of thickos! Just like 97% of the new members of Scoobynet in the past 2 years

"Yea man lets go down the Pub innit! and get pizzed up on lagers an talk footie all night"
"then wonced we iz lagerreddd we can show the slapperrs how stuuupid we izs"
"Yea man I as to getzs meseleves a Scoobaru as they iz well ard and the chiks dat izs ticker than me will drop there moist panties when theys eres my Scoobys Nigel Ben Beat"

Please if it would be possible, can we have an IQ test before people are allowed to register on Scoobynet, then once it has been seen to work here, perhaps we could try to get IQ machines installed in the poll booths

As a Labour supporter (I'm not, personally) you should be in disbelief at the current state of your party, too. I have a lot more respect for 'proper socialists' like "Red Ken" Livingston, Wedgie Benn and Tam Dalyell than I do for 'New Labour'

Carl,

I put the country before the party. I don't really care about the state of the party, but I do care about the social catastrophe I feel is happening.

...which is why so many people didn't vote at the last election.

A long time ago, Spike Milligan wrote that 'one day the "don't knows" will get in, and then what will happen'. I think we're close to that time -- more people are voting "don't know/care" than are voting for any of the parties

Thumbs down

I'm not really sure who I'll vote for, they're all w4nkers

It would make things interesting if there was a "none of the above" box or a "I'm only voting X cos he's less of a w4nker than Y" box

I think wanting to be an MP should automatically make it impossible for you to ever be one, look at them all now, is there anyone there with an interest or the slightest clue what's really happening in the country?

I think there is a good case for altering the election ballot form to add a 'none of the above' box.

If I'm still in this country by the next election, and the Tories even hint they are considering joining the Euro, I will be voting UK Independence Party.

Chances are though, living and working in Central London, I'll be shot dead by a mugger for my umbrella. As the Police will be too busy with stealth tax cameras & the congestion charge riots, I doubt they'll even have time to attend the incident...

I think Ken Clarke will be leader of the Tory party by the time of the next election. He'd make a good leader. Blair really doesn't seem to be interested in his own country any more - he seems more interested in the world stage. (And he's a slimy little f**kwitt)

I voted for Ken Clarke (I'm a member of the Conservative Party). Even that was a flawed vote -- due to tactical voting one of the favourite candidates (Michael Portillo) gets voted out in the first round

To be an effective opposition with a chance of forming the government, the Tories need Clarke now and hand over to Portillo when Clarke gets too old.

IDS -- who the f**k is he? I'd never heard of him before the leadership battle

Agree with Carl. At the election in 97 the Tories needed someone new, not associated with the old guard.

Now the exact opposite is true. Many people now realise that the Tory govts of the previos 18 years weren't that bad after all.

I voted for Hague as well (I thought the Tories needed some new blood at the time). He may not have had the greatest personality, but he certainly used to put Blair on the spot during PMQT. As somebody said "IDS is like William Hague but without the jokes"

Edit: "Bring Back Maggie" is all very well, but she's too old now and in ill health. She's also become the bitter backstabber that Ted Heath was when Maggie herself was in power. Mind you, Churchill wasn't exactly young when he was PM.

Can you spell economic recession or f*ck up?

T-O-R-I-E-S

Couldnt balance a chequebook let alone the budget. The country was a sorry state in the later years of tory administration.

damian666 -- probably better for you to do the research yourself into the economic state of the country during the last Conservative government, rather than believe the propaganda. Although we're paying more tax now (and even more next financial year, with the increase in NI) can you name a single department that's not been f*cked up under 'New Labour'? I'm thinking Railtrack, fire and other unions, A-Levels fiasco, transport fiasco, health fiasco.

I would remind you that traditionally Labour governments pursue Keynesian economic policies and Conservative governments pursue monetarist policies. During the 'previous' Labour administration, the IMF wouldn't lend Dennis Healey (Chancellor at the time) any money until he ditched his Keynesian economic policies. Also remember that this was the time of 27% inflation and income tax at 95% for the highest earners.

Tell me why railtrack even exists. What government 'sold' BR to create the fiasco that labour have had to deal with.

Who kept funding to the NHS low, and created an insane management structure to create an irrevocable pit from which the NHS may never emerge?

Who sold British Steel and British Airways?

Who kept on selling but not investing? *Ahem* tories

Tax was low, investment was low. The high interest rates were insane - my parents were lucky to escape negative equity.

And the current government is now investing less in the NHS than the Tories were
All these promises of "20 billion investment" are over ridiculously long timespans.

Remember what the cause of the 15% interest rate was? It was necessary to combat inflation when we were in the Exchange Rate Mechanism. In that our exchange rate was allowed to fluctuate by up to (IIRC) 6% against the other European countries. Now Blair is proposing that we join the Euro, so we effectively lock the exchange rate against the Euro (0% fluctuations). Where's that going to lead? The only other option if you can't manipulate the interest rate or the exchange rate is to start arsing around with the money supply -- effectively 'printing money'
