I've a problem getting the sky remote to work a tv properly.

Old tv was a toshiba with went bang, and sky was always watched through the tv channel instead of the SCART - even though the SCART control was switched on, the tv didnt switch to the AV channel.

after tosh went bang I loaned out my Sony set, reprogrammed the remote but still no scart switching - although my set did allow you to set an AV channel as regular number.

a new Sony widescreen set was installed yesterday, but the remote won't work the tv!, I follow the instructions to the letter, but when I press tv guide the tv switches to channel 9. The first time you try this after programming the remote the tv guide appears, but from then on it doesnt work.

I've never had any problems like this with my own tv's, and the only reason I can think off is that the SCART sockets are crap, and I'll be trying again tonight with an IXOS SQART to see if that sorts it.

Any other suggestions / remedies welcome.

Are you using a fully wired scart? You need to have all 21 pins wired in order to have pin 8(?) do the switching.

tried it with 2 scart sockets.

they automatically switch when either the sky or dvd player are switched on.

is the battery on the way out? i think with a Sky handset if yoiu dont change the battery soon enough it can **** itself
