Sony Ericsson P800 on PAYG?
#1
I'm currently using a Nokia 8210 on Orange PAYG and want to upgrade to the P800. My monthly expenditure on the PAYG is about £20 and i'm wondering whether now is the time to choose a contract package. I guess that the P800 would eat credit when going on-line & downloading etc., is this true? Is there a set pence per minute charge with the P800? What sort of deals are around for the P800 on contract, preferably on Orange?
Also, I know the P800 uses Bluetooth, am I right in assuming that if I get the Bluetooth headset I can mount the phone in the car and receive calls legally?
As you've probably guessed from the above ramblings, I don't have much of a clue about phones.
Thanks for any advice.

Re: Bluetooth... yes everything will work as you expect and you will be legal.
P800 is designed for GPRS in mind, is that available on Orange PAYG? Otherwise you'll have to dial into your ISP which is slower and is usually billed at your voice rate (again, PAYG may have no data support or higher charges for data calls).

GPRS is supported on Orange PAYG, dial 451 from your handset and they'll activate it for you. If you tell them what phone you have they are also able to send the settings direct so you don't have to fiddle around with it.
GPRS is charged by how much data you download, rather than how long you're connected for. It costs £4 per MB wheras contract is £3. If you connect to say scoobynet and load a page, you'll get charged for the amount of data the phone has to download to view the page, but as you sit and read it, although connected, you're not incurring any costs until you load up the next page. It's a good idea to disable images to keep the costs down.
If you go contract you can get bundles that include an amount of GPRS usage plus SMS and MMS messages for a set monthly fee. Like SMS you don't get a monthly allowance unless you buy one of these bundles.
