Im just wondering because there are so many depressed people around. I think earth is a punishment, I mean a normal life is 15+ years of learning, 40 odd years of work and hassle so you can survive and then you wait to die, the most pleasure people get is a few days a week when you socialise, the rest is just pointless and boring...
I know Im right, IM RIGHT!
Would you feel as if you had missed out if you hadn't expierienced life on earth?

You know in fairness he has a point and I have wondered myself.
What really is the point?? I find my problem at the moment is I have only myself to live for and that is really ****. I like having to think/worry about someone else so a partner and one day children might make me feel better about things.

Abosolutely right chaos, there is more to life than work.
You hear about it all the time, guy works till he's 65 then two years later, "brown bread".
IMHO Gotta be self employed to enjoy life more, if you can hack not being paid monthly and all the other benifits that go with FT employment.

We are put on earth for one reason, and one reason only - to procreate & evolve the human species.
Anything else you do inbetween is between you & yourself. Life is what you make it.

PS SaxoBoy - you have permission to use my above quote as a chat-up line. Works every time. You'll have a house & 10 kids before you know it....
Women love the earthy $hit.
I agree though, I prefer sharing my life with others - I like to give others pleasure (not sure the wife would agree on that one!), and seeing the smile on their faeces is worth 2 in the pan.

15+ years of learning - dont we learn the whole time we're alive?
However I suggest that if you dont want to work for 40 years do something about it and work for 20 in a decent job and retire early!

seeing as work is the biggest part of the average person's life, it makes sense to make work an enjoyable part of your life. I currently have a pretty good job, earn a reasonable amount of money, etc, but will shortly be giving it up to go self employed and do something I really want to do. It may or may not work out, but I wont be looking back in 30 years time wishing I had done things differently.

One of the reasons i pursued my dream
getting paid to do something you love and would do anyway is the best thing in the world- the fact its a social job is a bonus.
I agree about the self employed thing-
Too many people live to work- you should work to live

I tried to persue my dreams...did the education, did all the things that people advised me to do etc etc.
But in the end I just kept being knocked down to the floor. Sure I could get 30K/year Job driving a desk in a factory that makes boxes. I've already done 2years of sheer mental torture "just for some income." What is the point when your hearts not in it and it just sucks your life down the drain.
I've damn tried hard to get what I want only to get some incompetant **** beat me there to it I'm on the verge of just packing everything in and live the life of a hobo!
I think I'm being punished for all this life I live...as everything I enjoy/love is taken away from me or tainted with some highly ironic twist like if it's all a big joke.
Hell is Life, and I'm living it
[pauses to laugh at a stupidy Maxed Fiesta drive past- ahh well at least some people achive their dream (car)]

I know just what you mean. At the moment, I've been in 17 years of 'formal' education, with probably 2 or 3 more to go, coz if I don't, I won't get a job. I looked at jobs on the web yesterday, & I can't really find anything that doesn't need 3 years experience or more....flippin impossible, the whole thing
The idea of life, I suppose, is that we educate ourselves for about a quarter of it, before attempting to get a job, & a family perhaps, before retiring, & thinking back at the things we'd like to have done, or maybe doing more interesting things if poss, & if money allows.
Or alternatively, we have as much fun as possible, with what money we have, & do a **** job, to fund the things we like.
I know the way I'd like to live, & it's not like the above, but it seems hard as hell to actually achieve it.
