Petrol RC Cars

Hello all.
My mate is thinking of buying these and we were wondering about fuel.
Do they run on standard unleaded, or is it special fuel? And if its special, where can i buy some?
Cheers!

Depends if you mean true petrol r/c cars or nitro r/c cars?
Nitro r/c are the ones most people have and the fuel can be obtained from any model shop in different grades depending on the engine you run.
Proper petrol r/c cars are very expensive from what I remember and pretty specialised.

Nitro fuel is made up of three separate components; nitro, methanol and lubricant.
On each tub of fuel you will notice a percentage which will either be 5, 10, 15, 16, 25 or 30. These percentages denote the amount of nitro contained within the fuel as against the methanol and lubricant. Usually the manufacturer of the engine will suggest a suitable mix which the engine will run at its optimum capacity and give its best performance at.

Forgot to say, IFAIK only the larger 1/5 scale (i.e. huge) rc cars run on a petroil mix as they use a modified and tuned strimmer engine.
All the smaller 1/8th and 10th scale cars use Nitro or battery power.
