Question

Anybody got (or point me at) a few hi-res chinese characters that I can blow up to A4 size to make a stencil to decorate my sons bedroom wall.

Kevin.

Try not to use simplified Chinese characters, they look crap & they're not 'cultured'.

Have to say I'm struggling to find something that can be blown up and give a decent resoloution. Spent most of the night on Google and the best I can do is some calligraphy images. Is it worth downloading a chinese font (possible?)and doing it that way?

I don't think downloading chi fonts will work, cos chi characters are not like alphabets, & each character is unique (although the different 'parts' used are common). The fonts themselves do not correspond complete characters, they're only parts of it.
U can only type chi if u have the correct inputting software (i.e. MS Word Chinese version), & u know how to input chi characters. Of course, inputting means u have to know the language itself.
What u can do is, goto some Taiwanese or Hong Kong webpages, & see whether they have some large graphic banners with Chinese words on them. This will save u from needing to download IE encoding packs.
Don't bother with sites in China, cos they use simplified characters, which doesn't look good.

Dunno whether u can blow it up. They also have some 'flashcards' available for printing. See if u can blow those up.

Wink

If only you know what half the characters mean and how the meaning changes depending on the preceeding charcater and following character.
