Tiff Nedell on two wheels, gets his knee down and.....

Well, he bined it, cos he was showing off , and in any case he knows the track a lot better than most, so he does know where the scary bits are. LOL, All the gear and no idea
Henderson has a Duke but they are a trophy machine for many (like a Harley) and do not represent good riding ability, That comes with practice (I was passed by a rough looking 400 on my last track day (and he was gone ), but I was lapping some Dukes in the same sessions.
Name me one racing car driver who has hopped on a bike and been competetive, and I'll show you a few bike riders who have switched to cars and won races. Cars are much more forgiving to drive. Bikes pushed hard don't suffer fools gladly.

Bins it .
Fifth Gear tonight, he did the Ron Haslam Race school @ Donington Park with VBH, and in his quest to show the world how its done after watching a Rossi Vid, lowsided it on a corner . He is a skilled driver without doubt, but it takes a lot of practice to do the knee down competently. Should have stuck to 4 wheels - less skill needed

I cant help but feel that 5th Gear is an outdated show nowadays. Probably because the new Top Gear is so different and longer. Needell/Wilson/Henderson have been doing the same 4 X 5 minute articles in a half hour show for the last 20+ years.
Considering Needell doesnt even have a bike he didnt do so bad. Henderson should have been better though, as she owns a Duke!
Ugly old slapper that she is [Flame suit zipped up ]

Yep, he was. Wasn't stunningly successful but he did win some trophies. He also races Manx Nortons etc very competitively now, up against some of the best classic bike racers.
Mind you, Rossi didn't make a great job of the Rally last year .... but then again, neither did Martin Brundle when he had a go

Don't forget John Surtees, world champ seven times on 'bikes, and in F1 and CanAm. That record takes a bit of beating.
Its true that 'bikes dont forgive if you **** it up, but don't decry having a car on the absolute limit with all four wheels sliding being balanced by the throttle. I do take my hat off to the the bike riders hanging the back wheel out at very high speeds though.

sliding the back of a 500 gp bike is more or less clever than drifting a rally car at high speed......and neither is more or less clever than playing a piano, all just different skills....if enough ppl practice enough some will get good at something (as is the basis for all life!)

I'm not saying I could, but then again, I never pretended I could drive like Colin McRae after playing the game of the same name . For what its worth, I think that it takes much more skill to drift a GP bike on the power than a road car and would consider it comparable to pushing an F1 car in the wet. In anycase, Scooby owners are spoilt with the carlos fandango torque split power delivery contraption in the box, and the cars make the drivers look much better than they really are .
