Subarus are made in japan in right hand drive form, and right hand drive for uk, but forwhat reason are the rally cars left hand drive?
Does anyone know why?

........Which probably explains why the British, Japanese, Aussies, Cypriots and Indians don't win all that many races

the focus WRC has only ever been LHD, it has never been RHD, the USA shell, pre 03 car has no implication here. You have to go back to pre Escort Cosworth WRC spec to find the last ford RHD homologated car as the Escort WRC was never RHD homologated, the GroupA Escort Cosworth hasnt been RHD homologated since they introduced the 7.5" front diff asembly which is too big to fit with a steering column on the right.
It's simple, you have to standardise to one homologation, so LHD was chosen due to the majority of drivers starting out LHD. All the works WRC cars have only ever been LHD homologated.
