I was bidding on a Tv on Ebay but it went above my max. In the meantime I had an email from a Dutchman saying they could do it for a good price - but it would require a money transfer after which they will send the TV by UPS.

I have done all I can to verify the credibility of it - but is this a total scam that happens regularly ?

Any quick comments ?

Hello

There are alot of scams on E-bay, especially if someone mails you away from E-bay as you have no way of verifying who they are.

Large expensive items for obvious reasons are most open to scams..

trig,

yep this is going on alot, if you lose a bid on something (esp. high value) guaranteed someone will offer you a similar item, if they're in the UK tell em you'll collect it and see what happens!

f*****s the lot of em!

First one sounds like a definite scam, chances are the money transfer was via Western Union.

PC, your doesn't sound like a scam as it looks like a genuine auction.

Be careful, though.

I use ebay loads and get a few emails about items that people ahve and I never won. Don't do it only bid on actual auctions on ebay as these are from usually genuine people. Always check out their feedback if unsure, and email somebody who has purchased from them before. Well thats my advice.

Good advice, remember the Post Office will try and scam you as well by stealing your expensive looking package
